Class Attendance Register Template
A class attendance register is the daily record of which students were present, absent, or late in each class period. It is both an operational tool (teachers take it every morning) and a compliance document (education authorities may inspect it). Accurate attendance records are the foundation for calculating attendance rates, triggering parent notifications, and identifying at-risk students.
When to use: Complete for every class session, every teaching day. One register per class per term, or one register per subject for subject-based teaching in upper school.

Best Practices
Record attendance within the first 15 minutes of each class period. Attendance recorded hours later is unreliable and may miss late departures.
Use a consistent marking code (P/A/L/Ex) throughout the school — different teachers using different codes makes end-of-term aggregation impossible without manual standardisation.
Store completed registers securely at term end — they are school governance documents. In Ghana, education inspectors may request registers going back multiple years.
In RedeemOS, digital attendance is taken on the teacher's phone or computer. The system automatically calculates attendance percentages, flags chronic absentees, and sends real-time SMS alerts to parents when a student is marked absent.
Never alter a historical attendance record without documenting the reason. In RedeemOS, all edits to past attendance are logged with the editor's name and timestamp.
